## **Genesis Audio Config Guide with GCXONE**

Genesis Audio is configurable only if the user has the required permissions. Local Mode settings are not required — calls can be initiated via Genesis Audio even if Local Mode is disabled.

**Before you begin:** Log in to **GCXONE**, click the **Configuration** menu, select the Customer and Site, then navigate to the **Devices** tab. Every procedure below continues from there.

**Note:** Any active call started from Genesis Audio will disconnect automatically if the user navigates to another application in GCXONE or clicks the refresh button.

### Part 1: Add Genesis Audio Device

**Step 1:** Select the Customer then select the Site under which the Genesis Audio device needs to be added.

**Step 2:** On the **Devices** tab, click the **Add New** button.

**Step 3:** In the **Device** field, select **Genesis Audio**.

**Step 4:** Enter the desired **Name** — optionally selecting an **Entity Group** — and click **Discover**. Leave **Sip Server** unchecked for standard auto-discovery.

**Step 5:** Once the device is discovered, click **Save**.

**Step 6:** A success message ("The device was added successfully") will be displayed, and the device will be added to the data table.

**Note:** Use the Genesis Audio device credentials to configure the IP speaker. For Hikvision speakers, also add the Genesis Audio SIP addresses to the speaker's access list — see [Speaker](/gcxone/features/audio/speaker).

### Part 2: Initiate a Genesis Audio Call from Video Viewer

**Step 1:** On the **Devices** tab, verify that the added Genesis Audio device is active.

![89](/api/media/file/Screenshot-2026-09-01-110151-edited-07f2aa87.png?prefix=media)

**Step 2:** Navigate to the **Video Viewer**.

![887](/api/media/file/Screenshot-2026-09-01-110513-edited-83868792.png?prefix=media)

**Step 3:** Select the site in the tree view and expand it. Verify that the Genesis Audio device is listed under the selected site.

**Step 4:** Drag and drop a sensor from the site into the **Video Viewer**. Verify that the microphone icon is enabled, then click it — an audio call will be initiated.

**Step 5:** Once the call is connected, the microphone icon will change to indicate that the call is connected.

**Step 6:** Click the microphone icon again to disconnect the call. The microphone icon will change to indicate that the call has been disconnected.

### Part 3: Test Device Default Audio

If a camera has its own built-in audio and no Genesis Audio device is active on its site, calls fall back to that camera's own (default) audio instead of routing through Genesis Audio. Use this procedure to verify that fallback works.

**Important:** Local Mode must be enabled to test the device's default audio.

**Step 1:** On the **Devices** tab, click the camera/device you want to test (not the Genesis Audio device), then click its **Edit** button and open the **Properties** tab. Find the **Audio Connection Source** property and confirm it is set to either **HUB** or **CAMERA**, matching where the device's built-in audio actually comes from.

**Step 2:** Click on the sensors listed under that device, then click the sensor's **Edit** button. Turn on the **Audio** toggle if it isn't already enabled, then click **Save**.

**Step 3:** While still on the **Devices** tab, make sure there is no active Genesis Audio device under the site. If one is present, deactivate it — otherwise the call will route through Genesis Audio instead of falling back to the device's default audio.

**Step 4:** Navigate to the **Video Viewer** application. In the Device Explorer tree, expand the customer, then click the arrow next to the site to expand it and reveal its devices. Click the arrow next to the camera/device you tested in Step 1 to reveal its sensors.

**Step 5:** Drag and drop the sensor into the **Video Viewer**.

**Step 6:** Verify that the microphone icon is enabled, then click it. The call will be initiated using the device's default audio, and the microphone icon will change to indicate that the call is connected.

**Step 7:** Click the microphone icon again to disconnect the call. The microphone icon will change to indicate that the call has been disconnected.

### Part 4: Add Genesis Audio Device with Custom SIP URL

**Step 1:** On the **Devices** tab, click the **Add New** button.

![11](/api/media/file/Screenshot-2026-09-02-120721-edited-95b55967.png?prefix=media)

### Part 5: Play a Pre-Recorded Audio File

On supported sites, the audio control also supports playback of pre-recorded audio files through the Genesis Audio device, in addition to live two-way audio.
