GCX CloudVision

Cloud Video Management and Recording

Any Camera. Any Network. One Stream.

GCX CloudVision is the video layer of GCX One: live streaming, recorded playback, and alarm clip capture from cameras and recorders of almost any make, delivered to a browser with no on-site viewing software. It runs two streaming paths — cloud streaming for access from anywhere, and a direct peer-to-peer local path for operators on the site network — and falls back to cloud automatically when the local path is unavailable.

How GCX CloudVision works. Step 1, Source: Camera or recorder over RTSP, HLS or a vendor SDK. Step 2, Cloud path: Encrypted and routed by us, reachable from any browser. Step 3, Local path: Direct P2P on the site network, falls back to cloud on failure. Step 4, View: Adaptive quality per tile, playback and timeline. Step 5, Clip: Pre and post footage attached to the alarm.

Path

Cloud streaming

Video routed through the platform and delivered to any browser. Encrypted, no client install, reachable from anywhere.

Path

Local Mode (P2P)

The workstation talks to the recorder directly over the site network through the device SDK, unlocking local PTZ, local IO, SDK audio and encrypted streams.

  • Best for: on-site control rooms, where latency and audio quality decide the response

Recording and clips

Event Clips
Captured automatically on alarm from a rolling device buffer, including pre-event and post-event footage, attached to the alarm
Recommended Buffer
At least 5 seconds before the trigger; 15 seconds either side, about 30 seconds in total, is better
Playback
Recorded footage navigated by timeline, with Jump Back from 15 seconds to 1 day
Masking
Temporary or permanent masking of a zone, applied from video search without interrupting live monitoring or recording

Governance & Limitations

Device Dependency
Clip capture depends on the device supporting recording and holding a buffer; a camera without one produces an alarm with no clip
Network Dependency
Live video needs a working path to the device. Packet loss shows as stuttering and dropped connections rather than as silent degradation
Local Mode Requirement
Local Mode needs its service installed on the operator workstation, and Genesis Installer v2.9.7 or later for full feature compatibility

Getting started

Included in the GCX One base platform. Cloud streaming needs nothing installed; Local Mode needs its service on each operator workstation.

  3. 03Install Local ModeDeploy the Local Mode service to on-site operator workstations at the start of the rollout, not during an incident
  4. 04Set clip captureEnable event clips on the alarm types that matter and confirm the device buffer covers the pre-event window
