GCX GeoView

Maps, Geofencing and Route Calculation

Every Site, Where It Actually Is.

GCX GeoView is the map layer every other module borrows. Customers, sites, devices, cameras and IO ports appear as live pins on a satellite or road map, alarms pull the map to the site as they are assigned, and indoor floor plans extend the same view inside a building. It is also the geospatial foundation the tracking and overlay products are built on, which is why the map lives in one module rather than being rebuilt in each of them.

How GCX GeoView works. Step 1, Locate: Latitude and longitude in decimal degrees, per site. Step 2, Map: Road, satellite or 3D, with every site as a live pin. Step 3, Enrich: Cameras, IO, towers, zones and indoor floor plans. Step 4, Respond: The map follows the alarm; IO triggered from its icon.

Outdoors

Site map

Every customer and site as a live pin on road, satellite or 3D imagery, with device and camera status shown on the pin.

  • Best for: knowing where an alarm is before deciding what to do about it

Indoors

Floor plans

An architectural plan per floor, uploaded as PDF, JPEG or PNG, with cameras and IO placed on it and openable full screen.

  • Best for: buildings, where an outdoor pin stops being useful

Action

IO from the map

Gates, barriers and sirens placed as icons and triggered by clicking them, without navigating to the device.

  • Best for: response that has to happen in seconds

Architecture

The shared map layer. GCX GeoView connects Site coordinates, Devices and IO, Floor plans to GCX CommandCenter, GCX TrackView, GCX TowerGuard.

Placing a site

Required Fields
Latitude and longitude in decimal degrees — a site without both never appears as a pin and never appears in map search
Format
Decimal degrees only. Degrees, minutes and seconds notation is not accepted
Optional Fields
Google Plus Code, What3Words address, timezone
Timezone
Selected per site and used for scheduling and event timestamps

Cameras, IO ports, buildings, towers, zone boundaries, text labels
IO On Map
An IO port placed on the map can be triggered by clicking its icon
Zones
Zone boundaries drawn on the map and used for orientation and grouping

Indoor floor plans

Per Building
Unlimited floors, each with its own plan and its own independently placed devices
Plan Formats
PDF, JPEG or PNG
Placement
Cameras and IO devices positioned directly on the floor plan
Operator Use
Navigate between floors, open live video, and trigger IO from the indoor layout
Edit State
The floor plan opens in whichever mode the site map is in — enable Edit Mode on the map first to edit the plan

Governance & Limitations

Coordinate Dependency
Everything on this sheet depends on a site carrying correct coordinates. A site with none is invisible on the map and in map search, and nothing warns the operator that it is missing rather than absent
Visibility
The map shows only what the signed-in role already authorises; it is not a way around entity access
Naming
GeoView is a working name in the product structure, chosen over SmartView because that collides with GCX SmartVision in conversation. It is explicitly not a locked decision

Getting started

Included in the GCX One base platform. What decides whether it works is site data, not activation.

  1. 01Set the coordinatesConfiguration, Sites, Overview, Edit — enter latitude and longitude in decimal degrees and select the timezone
  2. 02Open the mapConfirm the pin lands where the site actually is, and that the site appears in map search
  3. 03Enrich the viewEnable Edit Mode and place cameras, IO ports, zone boundaries and labels
  4. 04Add the buildingsUpload a floor plan per floor and place indoor cameras and IO on it
