Operator Role Privileges
Overview
The default Operator role is built for day-to-day monitoring staff: watching live and recorded video, handling alarms, and working inside ZenMode. It carries no configuration, user-management, or settings access. This page documents the Operator role's privileges module by module, as currently configured under Settings → Roles → Operator → Edit Role Permissions.
These privileges are configurable, not fixed — any Admin or Super Admin can open that same screen and enable, disable, or fine-tune any capability at any time, and the change applies to every user with that role within seconds. If your organization has customized the Operator role, or created a variant of it, actual privileges may differ from this page. Always check the role's current configuration in Settings → Roles if precise access matters for your situation.
For the full catalog of every permission the platform supports, see Privileges. For how roles, module privileges, and entity access work together, see Understanding Roles & Permissions.

Camera Actions & Alarm Handling
This module has no View Page toggle — it's where the Operator role's real operational power lives:
- Video Functions — Live Stream, Playback, Jumpback (all three enabled)
- Audio Functions — Microphone Audio, Speaker Audio (both enabled — two-way talk)
- Camera Controls — PTZ Controls & Presets, Timed Mask. Permanent Mask, Isolate Camera, Update Reference Image, and View Geofencing are not enabled.
- Alarm Functions — Trigger Alarm, Activate Autostream Mode, Activate Multi-Monitor Mode. Share Alarm, Thumbs Up/Down on Alarms, and Download Alarm Clip are not enabled.
- Isolate time options and Stream Time out (Seconds) — not configured

Feature
Dashboard — View Page: ON
- Main Dashboard — View NOVA99x Dashboard. Edit Dashboard Capabilities is not enabled.

HealthCheck — View Page: ON
- HealthCheck — View Entity Lists (Customers/Sites/Devices/Cameras). Pause HealthCheck and Run HealthCheck Once are not enabled.
- Reports — Generate Health Check Reports

ZenMode
No View Page toggle. Both entry points are enabled:
- Access ZenMode from Video Activity Search
- Access ZenMode from Video Viewer

Video Activity Search — View Page: ON
- Video Activity Search Module — Copy Salvo URL, Download Alarm Images (Pre/Current/Post)
- Video Activity Search Capability — Motion Detection, Person Detection, Vehicle Detection, Overlay. Date Filter, Alarm Filter, and Tag Search Filter are not enabled.

Talos
Whether Talos is enabled for Operators depends on whether your organization uses the Evalink Talos integration for alarm management. Organizations that use Talos typically enable both Access Alarm Management and Access Workflow Management for Operators, so they can manage alarm workflows and escalations directly. Organizations using a different alarm-receiver integration (such as DC09) instead of Talos leave it fully disabled for every role, Operator included.
Map — View Page: ON
- Manage Map Items — Show Surroundings. Edit Map Items and Edit Map Settings are not enabled.
- View Map Items — View Sensors, View IOS, View Shapes, View Camera Live View (all four enabled)

Video Viewer — View Page: ON
- Video Tags — View Tag Folders, Create Video Tag Folders. Delete Video Tags is not enabled.
- Video Views — Save Custom Video View Layouts
- Event Salvo — Save Event Salvo View & Apply to All Hierarchy Levels is not enabled.

Marketplace — View Page: OFF
The only module in the Operator role with its View Page toggle switched off. Operators have no Marketplace access at all.

System
Settings
None of the seven Settings capability groups have anything enabled: User Profile, Roles & Permissions, User Management, Reports, Tag Management, Mobile Configure, Entity Groups. Operators cannot edit their own profile details, manage roles, manage users, configure scheduled reports, manage tags, customize mobile colors, or manage entity groups from Settings.

Genie (AI Assistant)
None of the five Genie capabilities are enabled: Support Tickets, System Insights, Device Setup Assistance, Troubleshooting Support, VPN Requests.

What This Means in Practice
Operators can watch live and recorded video, listen and talk through camera audio, use PTZ and timed masking, trigger and work alarms in Multi-Monitor Mode with Autostream, run video searches with motion/person/vehicle detection, work inside ZenMode from either entry point, view the map with sensors and shapes, manage alarm workflows and escalations through Talos where the organization uses that integration, and organize video with tags and saved layouts. They cannot configure sites, devices, or sensors; cannot manage users, roles, or entity groups; cannot access the Marketplace or Genie; and cannot delete tags, masks, or alarm clips beyond what's explicitly listed above.
